I just wanted to give everyone a quick update.

Progress is going very well on Curio 8, however it looks like it won't be out for a few more months. I'm hoping for a late Summer release. Perhaps when Mountain Lion is released. ;-)

Curio 8 has a brand new UI and I've moved all the code to the latest Xcode and Lion's frameworks. Yes, that means Curio 8 will require Lion at a minimum. Getting all of this going has taken a lot longer that I anticipated but it's going to be well worth it in the long run.

I'll post some more updates soon. Thanks to everyone for their patience. :-)

  • Dear George

Curio is the best program I have ever owned. As I've said to you before, I use it every day in my career as an advocate.
I have not found a program more ideally suited to the practice of law.
Perhaps I could write an article for your readers about it?
Actually, maybe you could run a series of guest blog posts from people in different professions and jobs, describing how they use Curio in their everyday work life?
I cannot wait for Curio 8.

  • This is an awesome idea!

Several customers have mentioned how they enjoyed seeing John Harrold's Vimeo post (http://vimeo.com/14901214) describing how he uses Curio.

And some of the forum threads where other customers have described how they use Curio (such as http://www.zengobi.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=694) have been popular as well.

If anyone would like to do a guest post here on the blog then let me know!

  • Worth the wait for version 8 I'm sure! Looking forward to the new UI! I also use Curio everyday, though certainly not in the same manner. For me it's all about brainstorming and then planning new art pieces for exhibits.

    Thanks for the update!

  • As a long time Mac user (mid 1980s) I can say that I have not been excited about a piece of software for a long while.

Curio is an impressive piece of work. I downloaded the demo version yesterday and will definitely be purchasing it. I use Devonthink and Circus Ponies Notebook as well as Novamind and xMind.

For most of my work Curio will be the up front app I hope there will be an upgrade path to version 8.

  • Yay! I can't wait!

  • I really like Curio and find it exceptional in making all kinds of notes.

However, after upgrading to Lion and finding it extremely problematic I very quickly reverted back to Snow Leopard. I am unsure whether I will install Mountain Lion, certainly not until it's been out and had a few .x releases.

I'm really disappointed that Curio 8 will be Lion+ only. There has been a great deal of anger over Lion in a number of forums (apple's included) and many people who have reverted to SL. This means a whole lot of folk who remain on SL will not be able to upgrade to Curio 8.

  • Will there be a point when users who buy Curio 7 will get a free upgrade to 8? I've bene thinking of buying it, but I don't want to buy it now and need to upgrade in a few months.

  • Presumably yes since we've done that in the past as well. :-) However, I can't promise when Curio 8 will be released so you may have quite a wait...

  • Love curio but hate the learning curve.

Would be willing to pay for standalone templates - esp for mind maps.

Depending on demand might be a great add on you can sell (bundles of pre-made templates / idea spaces) for time-crunched users to get the most out of it.

  • I am currently using the extended trial version and plan on purchasing at the end of the time (most likely end of April). Do you think that 8 will be available at that time or is it looking like it will be later in the summer?

  • Much later this summer, but I can't promise any dates of course. Mountain Lion may cause delays, Mac App Store may cause delays, etc.

  • Excited to see when you release! Standing by.. keep us updated and good luck :)
